On a day when she had flu and she knows she can’t have anything cold :
“Kakak you warm up the ice cream for me la.”
On Daddy’s drinking in the restaurant :
“Daddy, you don’t drink beer la, after you mabuk (Malay : drunk) laaa.”
On her not able to handle her umbrella (kid’s size) in a windy, drizzling day :
“Mummy, I cannot handle any more. *Passed me the umbrella* You help me la.”
On me choosing her a DVD to watch (as she kept asking for the same one to be played in the evening for the past week) :
“Mummy, why you so stubborn one? I said I want to watch this show la, not that show.”
On Daddy blocking her in the toilet (Daddy brushing teeth and she needed to use the toilet bowl) :
“Excuse me Daddy, your big back side blocking me la.”
On me not wanting to bring her to the mini market :
“Mummy, you don’t be so selfish, you bring me to the mini market also”
Thanks to Leap Frog, we saw her using phonics the other day (nobody prompted her, she just picked up a book and did it):
*Referring to a picture of cat* Ke-ke-ke-ke Cat
*Referring to a picture of fish* Fe-Fe-Fe Fish
*Referring to a picture of a yo-yo* Ye-ye-ye-ye Yoyo
*Referring to a picture of a diamond* Die-Die-Die Diamond
The last bit made me laugh!! But, anyway, she got the concept right.
Notes : I’m the culprit who speaks with all the ‘la’s at home. Daddy has been ‘advicing’ me not to use so much la in my conversation with her, as she’s picking up all these from me. But I’m Malaysian la!
So, did she get the ‘warm’ ice cream?
They so smart ya, know how to use words to their advantage! ๐
kakakakaka! your little girl can sound quite cheeky even though she doesn’t mean to be!
I really like to see her expression tasting the warm ice-cream…hehehe. I got my LeapFrog yesterday, blog about it too. Tim & Emily loves it especially the game in the DVD.
Haha! She’s like a little adult.
BTW, I just wanna tell you that you look great in the baby magazine. ๐
Your girls are gorgeous! And I remember learning phonics when I was younger haha!
ahhaahh she talks like an adult! but i must say Zara has always been very advance in her speech development
She had me rolling on the floor laughing with that “big backside” phrase!
If can,,…I would roll on the floor now and giggle…Your Zara is too good in her words…
at home i will speak with LA but not Misha. Then one day she asked me how come I can speak with LA and she cannot .. told her that I am an adult and she is not .. till now .. she does not speak with LA ๐
can train one ๐ hahahha
haha…I also try not to use “la””meh” so often but CANNOT la! LOL
Those are such gems!
big backside?! interesting how they absorb all these from us and know how to use them at the appropriate time ya. i still remember clearly, “snore like a pig only”. lol
Ethyl has the same prob with “lah lah lah”…and worse still, she added “hor” in her vocab lately…but she’s living in this kinda environment…how to stop all these????
Hi. This is Joanne. I got to know your blog from chinnee’s blog. I am a member of the playgroup which is always fun. Thanks to chinnee, I have started my own blog on “Shower your children with love – the right way”.
When you hear your children speak, it’s often the same phrase that you have used. I have this experience too when my 2 year old girl ask her brothers: What are you guys eating? I got a shock of my life hearing that. Haha.
aiyah malaysian dun use la…then not so malaysian la?
hehe….u surely a malaysian la!
haha mommy, why u so stubborn..knock ur head LOL..she’s just so cute
sooooooo cute laaaaa..
(i can share some recipes for cupcakes but i failed in decorating them after my first try last weekend! who eats all those sugar anyway! *sourgrape*) ๐ will post on them on my blog for you!
How come daddy have no la la? Makes for a happy heart I think la. ๐
Zara uses words like “stubborn” and “selfish” in the right context. So pandai one lah. ๐
I use lots of ‘la’ and ‘hor’ too..and it sure does influence Damien as well..hee…not only malaysian use that, singaporean also lah! ๐
Your Zara really very good with words…smart girl! ๐
haha..you remind me last time i also quite often use ‘la’ now my son that told me dun say la when i accidently say it out.
She so clever that using all those ‘special’ words ๐
Wow, you and daddy must be on the best of behaviour at all times from now on…otherwise your girl will definitely be reminding you.
how to not say la leh? my brother called Kieran la-la boy as he was using too many las n he got pretty upset and stopped using la for a while..only la…

now my boys also ended up with lots of ‘la’, ‘ma’, ‘wor’ and i’m trying to rectify that with much difficulties ๐ฆ
btw, rgdg yr next post, what’s the password thing ahh, how to get it?
It’s hard not to use “la” even for me in the US. I say it with my M’sian friends and hubby. Zara is so comical. I’m sure there’s never a dull moment in the household.
Could you share your password, please?

It’s very difficult to not say “la”. C’mon, we even write them out in our blogs. There’s a special touch added but only us will understand them.
a case of saying the “right” thingy at the right time? how come all the latest posts are locked?
