No Maid
Tuyam has gone home to Indonesia for a month for her Raya holidays. Oh boy, this mummy with big stomach has to take care of Zara most of the time.

I’m having my sister’s maids to help out in caring for Zara (and I work from my sis’ place), but since Zara is still not quite used to them, she keeps coming to me for things and for a cuddle.

28 more days to go before the maid comes home (if she did come back).

New Phrases
Zara is using words and phrases she learns either from the TV or from us. Here are some new ones.

Me : “Zara did you touch Rusty (our cat) just now?”
Zara : No way! Zara didn’t touch Rusty.”

In the car,
Zara : “Mummy, Zara want eat pop corn”
Me : “Mummy forgot to bring.”
Zara : Say Sorry girl girl (sometimes we call her girl girl).”
Me : “……. Ok. Sorry girl girl, mummy forgot.”

Me : “Mummy loves Zara so much”
Zara : “How much?”
Me : “….. Very much.”

While swimming,
Daddy : “Wow, Zara can float now!”
Zara : Pefect!”

After dinner,
Daddy : “Good girl, you finish your dinner.”
Zara : *grinned* “Excellent.”

Yakking
On days when she’s in the mood, she yaks non-stop. Here is a conversation taken yesterday when she was telling my nephews what she was going to do to get ready for bed:
“Mummy change this baju (Malay : clothes) for Zara”
“Dirty already mummy.”
“Must take off and Zara put in the laundry bag”
“Then kakak will wash wash the baju with the hands.”
“Zara brush teeth, and don’t let the water run (the latter phrase is from Barney)
“Then change Pajamas”
“Then mummy spray rose water on the face (when I apply my skin care in the night, I spray some rose water for her as well).”
“Zara smell so nice”
“Then read books, then bed time.”
She was saying this without pausing for a reply or response from us. My sis Filipino maid said she talked like an old lady.

I guess you must be worried whether Tuyam will be coming back. All employers of Indon maid has to go through this 😦

Zara is using big words & long sentences now, very impressive!

8. geetha - October 17, 2006

Wow! You are such a good employee.. to let go off your maid when you’re pregnant. But of course, the better you treat her, the nicer she is 😉

It’s better to have a yakkity yak at home than to have a quite kid.. I just love Zara’s conversations 🙂

18. domestic rat - October 18, 2006

I still hv to say it again. For zara’s age, she really is damn good, to be able to say so many words even 3-syllable words! You are a good mother. I’m trying to teach the niece how to say thank you and welcome and er, she’s not learning. She’s a month older than zara.

19. Simple American - October 18, 2006

“Excllent” report. haha

I bet she is cute with her rose water. Such a girly girl. Sure hope your maid returns. Last thing you need is to find a new maid when the new baby is coming.

20. Vien - October 18, 2006

Haha..Zara is quite cheong hei, huh? A good practice for her future job as lawyer buruk. 28 days is quite a long time, just take it easy.

23. mott - October 18, 2006

Poor mummy!! Tummy so big, no maid. Poor mummy!

Zara is the best jie-jie EVER! She is already teaching Mei-Mei how to talk! I bet you, Mei-mei will love it when Jie-jie sings to her!

Really!!! When my No.2 first came out, I noticed he really loved hearing his Ko-ko’s voice and our singing!

24. Julian - October 18, 2006

Ya lah, many cases of maid going back home but never come back!

Such a great achievement for such a young kid who can have so much vocab already. That’s a good start.

25. Nadia - October 18, 2006

Wow! I’m really impressed with Zara’s vocab and yah, she sure can talk non-stop, ey?

Anyway, I hope you’re gonna be okay the next 28 days or so. Hopefully Tuyam will come back. Take care, yah?! =)

29. Zara's Mama - October 19, 2006

Milkmaid,
Yeah la.. Maid also need holidays. But I’d chosen a wrong time to let her go. 😦
I’m getting big, yeah, and lately, only Zara and myself are the two lone rangers in the park.

Helen,
8yrs already.. trust her in a way, but won’t trust her alone with Zara at home. 😛

Sasha,
Language high class pick up from TV la. If it’s from me, will have lots of Ma, and La, and Meh. 😛

LB,
Aisay.. no lotus seeds then I won’t be in this situation hor?

Blurblur,
We give her 1mth off every year, but I’m changing that already. Can’t afford. Every year, it costs me lots of money. 😦

May,
At home no Astro, so she’s only picking up from the DVDs I bought her. Mainly Barney.

Immomsdaugther,
If she chose not to come back, she rugi also, because I with held some of her pay.

Geetha,
Actually it’s something I agreed with her before I got pregnant. Can’t go back on my word. Next year, no more long vacation for her. 😛
Yeah, a yakking child is better than a quiet child.

WMD,
It’s nice to keep track and see where she is every month. That’s why I make a conscious effort to mentally take note, then blog it if time permits 😛

Mom2Ashley,
26 days more to go.. 😛

See Fei,
Yeah.. and hubby isn’t of much help. All child care and domestic matters I have to worry about.
Actually she already started it. She approached a handsome boy in the shopping mall and said, “Handsome boy” and started touching him… Boy and me just got so shock. :O

Michelle,
She has my sis’ maid to look after now, she doesn’t seem to have missed Tuyam. The Excellent part is how daddy speak. I’m more ‘cheenar’.

Sesame,
If maid didn’t come back, then hire new maid loh. 😦

Cocka Doodle,
Hey, I sent her back to Indonesia, not to your dungeon ler.

YL,
I taught her, but sometimes she’s like a machine gun, too fast to pause. 😛

Laundryamah,
Thank you who.

Domestic Rat,
Lots of invested time and talking to her does pay off a bit. Am not sure if I have the energy to do the same for the 2nd one. 😦 But I do hope I have.
Btw, every child is different. Maybe your niece just wants to take her time.

Simple American,
Yeah.. I really don’t want to go through another 2months of waiting period (for a new maid) especially when I’m getting bigger. So I hope she stick to her word and come back.

Vien,
Yeah, she’s very cheong hei now. Now down to 26days liao.. I’m counting.. I’m counting. 😛

Beckysmum,
Thanks.

Shannon,
Yeah.. at least during holidays, Daddy can help take care of her. I hope.

Mott,
Poor mummy hor?
We started to tell her she must teach meimei, but she said CANNOT or DONTWANT. Hopefully she’ll change when she sees her meimei.

Julian,
Thank you.. Touch us for working mum, have to depend on the maids.

Annie Q,
My maid worked for 8yrs liao wor. Last year and this year she went on a month’s vacation. I’m cutting that down already.. can’t afford to let her go too long and too often.

Kittycat,
Rose Water is my way to let her appreciate why I’m spending so much time at the mirror after my bath. 😛

Huisia,
Thank you..

Wow, not easy not having a maid around especially pregnant and have a toddler to care for. You take care of yourself and leave the house work ok.
Zara is so good in her speech, speak like a pro! clap clap for her!
